Hydraulic excavators usually couple engine power to (commonly) three hydraulic pumps rather than to mechanical drivetrains. The two main pumps supply oil at high pressure (up to 5000 psi) for the arms, swing motor, track motors and accessories while the third is a lower pressure (~700 psi) pump for pilot control of the spool valves; this third circuit allows for reduced physical effort when operating the controls. Generally, the 3 pumps used in excavators consist of 2 variable displacement piston pumps and a gear pump. The arrangement of the pumps in the excavator unit changes with different manufacturers using different formats.
With my ideal tractor in mind, I was able to cut the list of 60 or 70 tractors for sale down to 20 or so. Before I got into seeing what those 20 fetched online, I dug into tractor forums looking for hands-on reviews. The New Hollands in the size class I was after, I found, were actually rebranded LS tractors, made in South Korea. A neighbor loaned me an LS awhile back and I wasn’t in love with it. The old Allis-Chalmers was a great machine, but parts were hard to find. A couple of the John Deeres had really positive chatter, as did the L3750, which a couple of guys on the Kubota forum said might be the best tractor Big Orange ever made. Before I started pricing the tractors out, that list of 20 or so was cut in half.

Before the 1990s, all excavators had a long or conventional counterweight that hung off the rear of the machine to provide more digging force and lifting capacity. This became a nuisance when working in confined areas. In 1993 Yanmar launched the world's first Zero Tail Swing excavator,[9] which allows the counterweight to stay inside the width of the tracks as it slews, thus being safer and more user friendly when used in a confined space. This type of machine is now widely used throughout the world.

A robotic mower is an autonomous mower that operates within a defined set of boundaries to mow a yard. Wire boundaries frame the desired mow area (the yard) and the robotic mower operates continuously within that area, mowing the lawn until you turn it off. They are generally designed for smaller areas, but some newer models are showing increased mow area capabilities. They are awesome if you don’t have the time (or desire) to do it yourself.

The first three-wheeled, front-end loader was invented by brothers Cyril and Louis Keller in Rothsay, Minnesota, in 1957.[2] The Kellers built the loader to help a farmer, Eddie Velo, mechanize the process of cleaning turkey manure from his barn. The light and compact machine, with its rear caster wheel, was able to turn around within its own length, while performing the same tasks as a conventional front-end loader.[2]
The make and model category is further divided into the purpose in which a driver sits on the machine and drives it, and the other where the operator works alongside the vehicle. The type of drive is further broken down to wheel type and track type. The wheel type is then broken down into two, three, and four-wheel types of drives, while the track type is subdivided into full and half-track types of drives.
